Client Overview

The Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW) is a leading Kenyan women’s rights organization advocating for the prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG) through legal reform, civic education, survivor support, and public awareness. Bob Digital Media partnered with COVAW to strengthen its digital presence and advocacy communications—ensuring critical messages reached the right audiences with clarity, sensitivity, and impact.

Project Brief & Challenge

Gender-Responsive Budgeting sits at the intersection of public finance, policy, and gender justice—a space often dominated by technical language and institutional framing. COVAW’s challenge was threefold:
  • Complexity: GRB concepts are policy-heavy and difficult to communicate to non-technical audiences
  • Audience Diversity: The video needed to resonate with policymakers, civil society actors, and the general public
  • Engagement:The content had to inform without overwhelming, and educate without alienating
The goal was not just awareness—but understanding, relevance, and action.

Scope of Work & Deliverables

Bob Digital Media approached the project with a story-first, audience-centric methodology, ensuring the message remained impactful, ethical, and easy to grasp.

1. Policy Simplification Through Storytelling

We translated GRB from abstract policy language into:
  • Everyday scenarios that reflect real-life gender inequalities
  • Clear cause-and-effect narratives showing why budgets matter
  • Simple visual metaphors that explain how public funds impact women and communities
The story framed GRB not as a bureaucratic process, but as a tool for fairness, inclusion, and social impact.

2. Audience-Friendly Scriptwriting

The script was carefully structured to:
  • Introduce the problem in relatable terms
  • Explain GRB step-by-step using plain language
  • Reinforce key messages through repetition and visual cues
  • End with a strong call to awareness and accountability
Tone was intentionally educational, empathetic, and empowering.

3. Engaging Motion Design & Animation

Animation played a critical role in accessibility:
  • Clean, modern visuals aligned with advocacy communication
  • Smooth motion to maintain viewer attention
  • Visual hierarchy that guides understanding
  • Inclusive illustrations reflecting diverse communities
The result was a video that felt inviting rather than instructional.
