Transforming Complex Educational Frameworks into Actionable Learning Tools

This project demonstrates our ability to operate at the intersection of design, communication, and social impact—delivering work that is not only visually compelling, but deeply purposeful.

Client Overview

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a global non-profit organization committed to improving quality of life through education, health, and community-driven development initiatives. Operating across multiple regions, AKF partners with educators and institutions to foster innovation, resilience, and sustainable impact within learning environments. Education innovation is a core pillar of AKF’s work—requiring tools that are not only academically sound, but also practical, engaging, and adaptable to diverse classroom contexts.

Project Brief & Challenge

AKF required three step-by-step incubation guidebooks designed to support educators in implementing classroom innovation frameworks. The core challenge was multifaceted:
  • Educational frameworks were complex and abstract
  • Content needed to be instructional, not theoretical
  • Materials had to work across different learning environments and educator skill levels
  • Visual presentation needed to enhance understanding without overwhelming users
  • All outputs had to strictly adhere to AKF brand guidelines
The core challenge was balancing accuracy, sensitivity, and simplicity ensuring policies remained correct and compliant while being approachable and empowering for children.

Scope of Work & Deliverables

1. End-to-End Guidebook Design

We provided full graphic design and layout development for all three incubation guidebooks, ensuring clarity, consistency, and usability throughout.

2. Custom Illustrations & Characters

To make abstract innovation concepts tangible, we developed:
  • Custom illustrations to explain processes and ideas
  • Cartoon-style characters to guide readers through each stage
  • Visual metaphors that reinforced learning objectives
  • 3. Content–Visual Integration

Text and visuals were carefully integrated to:
    • Reduce cognitive overload
    • Reinforce key ideas visually
    • Guide readers naturally through each step

    4. Multi-Format Delivery

    The guidebooks were delivered as:
    • Print-ready files for physical distribution
    • Editable digital formats for adaptation and reuse

    5. Collaborative Review Process

We managed multiple rounds of iterative feedback with AKF’s content team, ensuring:
    • Accuracy of educational material
    • Alignment with pedagogical goals
    • Strict adherence to AKF’s brand standards
